About Crete

Crete is the largest island of Greece and the fifth largest in the Mediterranean. The capital and largest city is Heraklion. Crete rests about 160 km south of the Greek mainland which extends in a direction east - west, south of the Aegean Sea, forming a natural southern boundary north of the Libyan.
In Crete, flourished, from about 3000 BC-1400 BC, one of the earliest civilizations of Europe, the Minoan
civilization.
 The archaeological museum of Heraklion is the largest in Crete and hosts the findings of the Minoan civilization.
